Partnership Tied with Friendship

Botschaft Usbekistan, January 11, 2017

On 2 January 2017, the Republic of Uzbekistan and the People’s Republic of China marked the 25th anniversary of diplomatic relations established between the two nations. On this occasion, the leaders of our two countries exchanged congratulatory messages.

The letter of the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev reads: "The relations between Uzbekistan and China have centuries-old roots from the times of the Great Silk Road. History keeps our grateful memory of vivid examples and unique facts of sustainable trade, scientific and cultural exchanges, reciprocal penetration of our cultures, traditions and customs.

Confident and dynamic, with a great reputation and influence in the world, China has become for Uzbekistan a close and reliable partner with whom we have a solid tradition of robust friendship, mutual understanding and respect.

Today, the ties between Uzbekistan and China, owing primarily to Your personal initiatives, have acquired truly mature, completely well-thought-out and mutually advantageous nature. Through consistent and tireless efforts of the parties, the two friendly countries and peoples have established long-term and multifaceted cooperation, while the dynamics of visits at the interstate and intergovernmental levels have been growing.

I am convinced that in the summit forthcoming in the near future we will have a great opportunity to continue our open dialogue with You around the wide range of issues on the bilateral and multilateral agenda in order to afford a potent additional impetus to the advancement of comprehensive Uzbek-Chinese relations."

In his message, President of the People's Republic of China Xi Jinping emphasized: "In the 25 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations, the Sino-Uzbek relations have developed consistently, steadily and healthily.

The Friendship and Cooperation Treaty laid a solid normative foundation for the development of bilateral relations. In 2016, our countries established comprehensive strategic partnership, our interaction across diverse fields has entered a new stage of development. The Chinese side is satisfied with the achievements made in bilateral bonds and fully confident in the prospects for further advancement of ties between our two countries.

I attach great importance to the progress in Sino-Uzbek relations. The Chinese side will continue to support the development path chosen by Uzbekistan in league with its own realities, as much as the efforts of the Uzbek side to cement the independence, sovereignty and security, promote socio-economic development and the enhancement of external relations.

On this occasion of the 25th anniversary of Sino-Uzbek ties, I am willing to work with You to undertake efforts to strengthen mutual political trust, deepen and steadily promote the bilateral bonds of comprehensive strategic partnership to the benefit of peoples of bоth countries."
