Main research directions:
Main goal of the museum is a veracious and trustworthy representation of high level development of science, education, enlightenment, culture in the period of Amir Temur and Temurids. Wide ranged propaganda of historical achievements and traditions, deep impregnation of younger generation with a strong sense of humanity, youth training to be patriotic and help them with realization of national independence ideology are also significant objects of this museum.

Major tasks of the Museum are:
• To carry out scientific-practical researches on main and principal directions of history, culture and education of Amir Temur and Temurids ruling period;
• To familiarize the public of the country and persons concerned from foreign countries with the history of Amir Temur and Temurids period;
• To realize scientific investigations in the territories of the republic and abroad related to the search of primary sources on Amir Temur`s and Temurids` epoch;
• To create permanent and temporary expositions as well as travelling exhibitions elucidating Uzbek national history on the basis of original documents, manuscripts, material and spiritual monuments and finds reflecting valuable contribution of Amir Temur and Temurids to cultural development and world sciences.

This museum is one of the scientific and spiritual-educational centers taking important place in labour of history interpretation of Amir Temur and Temurids ruling period as well as illumination of historical formation and development of Uzbek statehood.

Unique scientific facilities:
The building of the Museum and its expositions include many masterpieces of Temurids` epoch.

Amir Temur was the creator of a great empire who left an indelible mark in world history played an important role in the formation of statehood. According to the words of the President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov – «Amir Temur is a great strategist, wise politician, patron of trade, handicrafts and culture, has managed to create a great state based on laws, folk customs and traditions». Thus, as a builder, a creator and a skillful commander, for many centuries he has been an example and role model for the countries both of the East and the West.

In consideration of the huge contribution of Amir Temur to the state development, improvement of science, education, enlightenment and culture, as well as in connection with his 660th anniversary, the decree of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan was published on March 14, 1996 about the construction of a special building in Amir Temur`s Square designed for the State Museum of the History of Temurids under the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Uzbekistan. The museum was founded on the initiative and under the guidance of the President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov. Its inauguration ceremony was culminated in a national holiday held on October 18, 1996.

The Museum represents a synthesis of the medieval, or rather the Temurids` period of oriental and modern architectural styles. It is performed on the model of the palaces has been constructed in the time of Amir Temur, and peculiar architectural monumental museum is represented itself. The building has got a circular shape with a large ribbed dome, parapets on the roof, open verandah and columns. This is a magnificent and unique building; it meets all requirements of architecture and museum art.

The past of Uzbekistan, achievements of the present day and great future of the country have been reflected In the Museum as if in a mirror. The museum is included in the "List of state unique research facilities" and many items on the history of Uzbekistan are stored in its funds. Among them there are manuscripts, letters, gold, silver and copper coins, ceramics, bronze and copper products, samples of architectural decoration, samples of calligraphy, objects of ethnography, silver jewelry of Amir Temur and Temurids period, the objects found in Gur-Emir mausoleum and Bibi - Khanum mosque and many others. There are more than 2,000 exhibits are featured in its exposition now.

The museum has become one of the favorite sights for residents and guests of Tashkent. The Museum has been visited since its foundation by over 2 million people. The museum is also visited by many foreign government officials and official delegations. There are more than 700 official delegations have visited it over the years, from various countries of the world, leaving their records of impressions and wishes in the book for honorable guests, on the basis of which the Museum created the exhibition «Autographs».

There were created more than 60 thematic exhibitions at the museum reflecting the history of Amir Temur and Temurids, as well as the customs and traditions of Uzbekistan. The exhibitions as «Musical instruments of the Temurids epoch», «Books on the history of Temurids», «Mentor and disciple», «Rulers of Transoxiana», «Successors of our heritage», «Pages of Amir Temu`s life», «Citadel Shohrukhiya - the rarest monument of Temurids epoch», «Our foreign heritage», "Amir Temur - Clavijo – Samarkand», «History of writing culture», «Tashkent - the star of the East», «The treasury of rare manuscripts», «State Museum of the History of Temurids - 10 years old», «Samarkand – 2750», «Gifts», «Tashkent - the capital of Islamic culture», "The Renaissance of Temurids epoch», «Diplomatic relations of Temurids state», «Masterpieces of the Temurids` in world treasury», «Historic Monuments: Yesterday and Today» and etc.

The museum has demonstrated its most rare exhibits by travelling to France with the exhibition «Temurids Renaissance», in Hannover (Germany) «Expo – 2000», Sydney (Australia) at PowerHouse Museum with the exhibition «Bright colors: textiles and ceramics from Central Asia», Pennsylvania (USA) at Museum of Archaeology and Ethnography with the exhibition «Great Silk Road». There were organized exhibitions at the Museum jointly with the Embassy of India in Uzbekistan named «Rare manuscripts» and with the Embassy of Iran so called «Miniatures of Amir Temur and Temurids` epoch», exhibition on title «Distant and Near Oman» has been implemented together with National Department of Documents and Archive of Oman Sultanate.

There were organized more than 160 spiritual and educational activities related to anniversaries, historical dates and other holidays since Museum has been founded, for the purpose of educating the youth in the spirit of patriotism and awakening in them a sense of national pride, For example, such as «The great masters of the pen», «Legal Heritage of Temurids` period», «Descendants of Amir Temur», «Pearls of history», «Majestic image», «Courageous men defend the Homeland», «Great characters in the history of our spirituality», «The courage and fearlessness - the legacy of our great ancestors», «History -the foundation for future prosperity».

The main museum exposition, as well as exhibitions and activities conducted at the Museum play an important role for students and youth in the study of history Amir Temur and Temurids` epoch, and thematic tours such as «Amir Temur and Europe», «Martial art of Amir Temur», «Monetary policy in the state of Amir Temur and Temurids`», «The state of Amir Temur through the sight of Spanish ambassador», «Code of Temur», «Diplomacy in the period of Shahrukh Mirza», «Transoxiana in the time of Ulughbek», «The State of Baburids», «Temurid Princesses», «Temurid princes» and «round tables» held at the Museum promote a deeper acquaintance of the young generation with the history of their Motherland, making them experts in history.

The Museum has established scientific group who is prepared to publish books related to anniversaries. Book-albums were published on title «Amir Temur in world history» (1996,2001), «Khiva - the city of thousand domes» (1997), «Bukhara - the pearl of the East» (1997), «Light from the times immemorial» (1998), «Jaloliddin Manguberdi» (1999), «Termez» (2001), «Shakhrisabz - a legacy of millenniums» (2002) and so on.

Museum is a scientific center for the study the history of Amir Temur and Temurids. Over the years, scientists of the Museum have published books such as «Amir Temur in world history» (in Uzbek, Russian, English and French. The most important results of basic research:
Fundamental research «Renaissance of Temurids` epoch» was held at the Museum in 2003 - 2007. The scientific aspect of the project has been studied in the areas of «Science and education», «Literature and manuscript art», «Architecture and applied arts», "Miniature and music art". A multimedia "State Museum of the History of Temurids` " was created. Collections on titles "Cultural monuments of Temurids` epoch” (2003) and "Age of Amir Temur and Temurids`; new researches" (2005).

Anniversary editions performed by Museum
The results of the project have been prepared for publication as a monograph (12 sheets). Its results were discussed in national scientific conferences held at the Museum on themes «Age of Amir Temur and Temurids`: new researches» (2004), «State of the Temurids` and the Renaissance» (2006), in publications (over 30 scientific articles), in booklet «Amir Temur – Clavijo – Samarkand», and they were also appended to the multimedia «State Museum of the history of Temurids». Under this project were published collections on «Cultural monuments of Temurids» (Tashkent, National University of Uzbekistan, 2003, cond. sheets 6,75), «Age of Amir Temur and Temurids`, new researches» (Tashkent: «Fan va Tekhnologiya» Publishing House, 2005, 13 sheets), «Statehood and the Renaissance in Temurids` empire» (Tashkent: Aloqa Print, 2008, cond. sheets 14). The results having been got represent significant importance for specialists and researchers who work on study the history issues of development science and culture of Temurids` epoch, and also for preparation teaching aids for institutes of higher education, colleges, lyceums and schools, creation of expositions and exhibitions illuminating the history of uzbek nationality.

The project of fundamental researches as «Studies in Uzbekistan and in foreign countries valuable manuscripts of Temurids` epoch» was implemented in 2007-2011. Materials and information concerned to manuscripts of Amir Temur and Temurids` epoch in foreign countries were collected in its limit. Proceeding from all these were carried out analysis of studies level of manuscript sources kept at manuscript funds of Iran, Turkey, England, France, and Russia, on the basis of published manuscript descriptions the level of manuscript studies of Temurids` time in the Soviet period and in European countries were analyzed. In the process of work it was established, that considerable attention was paid to historical works at that time. Scientific-practical conferences were held at Museum on themes: «Sources on Temurids` history» (2007), «Sources on Temurids` history: descriptions, translations, studies» (2009), «Science and culture of Amir Temur and Temurids epoch» (2011) , general questions of scrutiny sources of Amir Temur and Temurids reign time have been elucidated giving their description, revealing issues, related to translation and others. Monograph in Russian «The history of writing and manuscript books of Uzbekistan (IX c.- beginning of XX c.)» (N.Khabibullayev. Tashkent: Tashkent State University of World Economy and Diplomacy, 2008. 10 sheets), brochure on title «The history of spiritual heritage of Temurids`» (O.Buriyev. Tashkent, 2009. -98pp.), and also collections as «Sources on Temurids` history» (Tashkent: Aloqa Print, 2010), ), «Sources on Temurids` history: descriptions, translations, studies» (Tashkent: Akademnashr, 2011, cond.sheets 10, 08.) were published.

Fundamental scientific project have been researched since 2012 year on theme “Human significance of studying and propaganda of science development, education and culture of Temurids` epoch”. Materials of exhibition and International conference was held in the headquarters department of UNESCO in Paris on theme: «The rise of science, culture and education in Temurids` period» were gathered, summarized and systematized. Based on the subject of project were studied and analyzed foreign editions (publications in CIS, England, France, Egypt and Iran), propaganda of Amir Temur and Temurids` epoch in Uzbekistan during Independence period (activities of Samarkand memorial museum of Ulughbek, inauguration Amir Temur`s monument in Tashkent, Samarkand and Shakhrisabz, formation of International Babur`s Fund and his works). In conformity with the theme of project issues related to descriptions of materials and cultural monuments of Amir Temur and Temurids epoch having been kept in foreign museums, in library funds and in a personal collections are summarized. And also subjects connected with propaganda the Renaissance of Amir Temur and Temurids` epoch were investigated, systematized in Internet Sites of Uzbekistan and in collected information, and for the first time for schoolchildren was created the map «The State of Temurids» (in Uzbek and Russian). Collections were printed on titles «Science and culture of Amir Temuu and Temurids epoch» (State Museum of the History of Temurids, October 28, 2011. Tashkent: “Akademnashr”; 2013. 6 books.) on the basis of issues of the Republic scientific-practical conference on theme: «Science and culture of Amir Temuu and Temurids epoch» and «Age of Temurids: researches and issues» (State Museum of the History of Temurids, October 22, 2013. Tashkent. Navruz, 2014. 7 books. cond. sheets 14) on the basis of the Republic scientific-practical conference on theme: «Mutual human significance of studies Amir Temur`s and Temurids` epoch».

Scientific research work on fundamental project «Spreading of cultural and spiritual heritage in foreign countries, associated with the history of Uzbekistan and its role on studying history of our Motherland» has been finished, and the younger scientists are participated also.

Scientific edition of this publication was implemented, archive data and issues were studied and copied from Internet. There given scientific description of historical and cultural relics of XVI-XX cc.(235), having been saved in museums, library funds and in a personal collections of Russia, Great Britain, France and USA. And also relics of colonial period had been stored in operated museums were analyzed in archive. On the basis of archive information objects having been kept in foreign museums are enumerated.

Practical development
Practical research on title «Citadel Shohrukhia - the rarest monument of Temurids` epoch» has been implemented in Museum 2003-2005. During archeological excavations carried out in Shohrukhia monument of XIV century, which was located in Akkurgan district of Tashkent region, were found and collected many objects of pottery, made of glass, iron and etc. Amount of objects received to the fund of museum were 400. Based on these findings was organized exhibition on title «Citadel Shohrukhia - the rarest monument of Temurids` epoch».

Innovative project «Tashkent - the capital of Islamic culture» (April-December.2007) was realized in 2007. The Independence of the Republic of Uzbekistan is an attainment of getting freedom of religion, which means achieving spiritual and morale freedom, based on developed religious ideas. So, consequently in national conception of independence has appeared Islamic religion, humanism ideas and philanthropy.

Tashkent has got centuries-old history, from time immemorial it was not also heart of science, enlightenment and culture, but the centre of Islamic culture too. So long as today it delights, amazes and raptures visitors of all the world with its matchless peculiarities and idiosyncrasy in Moslem world, grandeur of buildings madrasahs and mosques, richness of libraries having been stored rare manuscripts of great scientists and masters of the Renaissance of Islam in its funds, samples of those are protectively kept in Museum. Many Islamic scientists had their activities in our blissful country, in particular, Sheykh Khovand Tahur, Kaffol Shoshi, Khodja Ahror Vali, Mukhammad Salih Khodja and others, and in numerous madrasahs of that time profoundly studied as religious, so high-society sciences. Osman`s Koran has being kept in Tashkent is included to the list of Cultural relics of the World, madrasahs Barakkhona and Kukeldash, and also buildings of Kaffal Shashi, Sheykh Khovand Tahur, Yunuskhona and Zangi-ota having been solicitously protected.

According to the decree of International Islamic Organization on issues of education, science and culture (ISESCO, Organization of Islamic Conference) Tashkent was announced as the Capital of Islamic Culture in 2007. In connection with this historical event the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan from March 14th, 2007 decreed on carrying out thematic exhibitions, containing rare books and manuscripts enlightening history of city, at the museum was created exhibition on title «Tashkent - the Capital of Islamic Culture». The exhibition broadly submitted historical culture and spiritual aspects of priceless documents, manuscript works, objects of material and spiritual culture of Islamic world, reproducing religious indulgence, unity, philanthropy and consent. Catalogue of exhibition on title «Tashkent - the Capital of Islamic Culture 2007. Islamic manuscripts on Tashkent collections» was published in three languages (in Uzbek, Russian and English). Proceeding from this exhibition the general public, in particular, youth were broadly introduced with rich spiritual and material heritage. This exhibition and catalogue were promoted to educating and raising pride of people in historical achievements and national values.

Prospects of development the Museum`s activities

The role of Museum on studying history of Uzbek statehood based on scientific and practical studies of material and cultural relics is inestimable. Paramount task of Museum is broad enlightenment of material and spiritual values by means of creating museum exhibits, with the purpose of educating spiritually perfect human beings.

Numerous researches have been held at Museum appealed to broaden and impartially enlightenment the history of Amir Temur and Temurids`. During the time of Independence significant attention was paid to the history of Amir Temur and Temurids` epoch in our State, for the purpose of extending people`s knowledge of past history, educating the younger generation in the spirit of patriotism and national pride.

The new fundamental scientific research work of Museum on theme «Human significance of studies and propaganda of development science, education and culture of Temurids` epoch» represents continuation of previously implemented themes. The main task is to display particular scientific and propagandistic significance of this research, as in Uzbekistan so in worldwide scale. In the scientific aspect of this project for the firstly reasons relating to transportation to foreign countries our national and cultural values, and also problems of restoring them to Homeland were analyzed. A book including scientific descriptions of most full information of these artifacts will be prepared at the completed stage of the project, including in great scientific and practical significance, that would be a new source of information for general scientific community of Uzbekistan.

A theme associated with the military art of Amir Temur and Temurids` raises great interest of specialists not only in Uzbekistan but many countries in the world. Scientific studies of Museum on theme “Military art of Amir Temur and Temurids` epoch” will be easily and accessible given to trainers, in particular to specialists on military field. During research will be revealed history of military marches of Amir Temur and Temurids`, accomplished by them in the territory of Maverannakhr and Khorasan, staff of military equipment and types of arms of that time, secrets of gained victories wouldl be analyzed. By materials of the research work will be created exhibition on title “Military art of Amir Temur and Temurids` epoch”

The main importance of the Museum is continuation of excavations in the territory of Citadel Shohrukhia which is the rarest monument of Amir Temur`s and Temurids` epoch. Substantial objects have been found and studied at the territory of monument, undoubtedly enrich funds and exhibitions of museum, and also conduct to creation of thematic exhibition “museum under the open sky”.

On the basis of anew having been revealed objects and implemented scientific studies, scientific research works on themes: «Temurid princesses», «Temurid princes» and «Educating of youth in Temurids` epoch» are planned in the future.

Amir Temur`s and Temurids` epoch is the most powerful, majestic and magnificent age in the history of Uzbekistan. Spiritual and material culture of that time are more brilliant period of human civilization. At that time the great prosperity and progress had reached science, education, architecture, artistic art and fine art, literature, poetry and art of music, that made foundation of glorification the Renaissance of Temurids epoch. One of the most primary tasks of Museum indefatigable continuation of exposing masterpieces of Amir Temur and Temurids` epoch in foreign museums and collections.

Proceeding from the range of fundamental, innovation and practical researches, objective tasks of the State Museum of the History of Temurids are implementation of joint activities with scientific research institutes under Academy of Sciences and museums, and also consolidation relations with different educational establishments.

Museum has planned establishing closely contacts with museums and galleries of Russia, Belgium, France, Germany, USA, Great Britain and others. For the solution these tasks have been stipulated exchange of experiences, collecting information of objects illuminating the history of Temurids epoch, acquiring their copies, and also establishing moving thematic exhibitions. In addition to these, museum has planned taking an active part in republican and foreign exhibitions with its valuable expositions having been stored in its fund.

For getting perspective, the aims and tasks are to broaden participation in travel exhibitions by means of reinforcement relations and contacts with travel companies.
