The Birth of Twins Goes up in Some Regions of Uzbekistan

Botschaft Usbekistan, December 27, 2016

The Khorezm regional prenatal center today is experiencing the increase in birth of twins. If in 2015 there were born 189 twins, then within ten months of 2016, this number has grown to 196.

As doctors say, special care is required for these infants.

“Each unit is completely renovated, taking into account the specifics of the work,” said the chief doctor Gulsara Kurbanbaeva. “Now our center is designed for 200 beds, fitted up with new medical equipment and meets the time requirements.”

Within the implementation of the State program 2016 the center specialists hold the Week of Health in all parts of the region, which provides for the medical examinations of expectant mothers and newborns with the use of modern technologies. In recent years, a number of measures has been undertaken to promote the strengthening of reproductive health of women and children in rural areas. For example, Breastfeeding Week is organized once in three months, aimed at raising public awareness about the benefits of proper nutrition of infants. The staff of the center is carried out the mandatory examination of persons entering into a marriage.

“We try to explain every woman the benefits of breastfeeding,” said the deputy director of the center Nigora Sobirova. “Our center also runs a school for young parents. They receive detailed information on safe pregnancy, effective prenatal care, neonatal resuscitation, and more.

As a result of this work we make possible to reduce the incidence of birth of infants with diseases, because we care about the health of infants before their birth and after.”
