University of Journalism and Mass Communications has been established in Uzbekistan

The system of higher education institutions of Uzbekistan has been replenished with a new university. On May 24, the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed a resolution on establishment of the University of Journalism and Mass Communications.

The new university will be engaged in preparation of qualified journalists, introduction of modern information technologies and methods of distance learning into the educational process, attracting students to scientific activities in journalism, increasing pedagogical potential of the university by sending prospective young graduates to foreign educational institutions and scientific centers on master’s and doctoral programs.

It is noted that applicants will be admitted to the new university on the basis of tests and creative examination (interview).

In connection with opening of the profile university from the new academic year, admission of students to the journalism faculty of the National University of Uzbekistan and the faculty of international journalism of Uzbekistan State University of World Languages, as well as masters, stops. Students who study at these faculties will finish their studies in their existing universities.

From 2019/2020 academic year, the quota for admission to the Bachelor’s and Master’s program for the new University will be determined according to the annual quota allocation procedure.
